The performance is a free variation of the script by Leena Makoff. It is a story about the decline of patriarchy, dealing with Polishness in the camp style, and an expression of resistance to the nationalisation of reality.
“Polish Halloween” artistically develops one of the slogans displayed during the Women’s Strike protests: “On Halloween, I will dress up as Poland”. At the same time, it reflects the real situation in Poland 2015-2021 and intercepts the Polish tradition of “the forefathers’ eve”, becoming an “attack” on Polish values, a synthesised image of Polish demons depicting various aspects of social oppression.
The performance is conceived as a camp mystery, a kind of catharsis, a ritual liberation from the national archetype of both the heroines and the audience. It aims to bring hope for a change in the spirit of the feminist-queer revolution. It announces a New Beginning.
