Singer, actor, director, poet, educator. The late Roman Kołakowski, in a laudation on the occasion of the Aleksander Bardini Prize awarded to Jacek Bończyk seven years ago, said: “In each of these areas, he meets all the criteria of the truest mastery”.

“Licence for Lyricism” is an evening with poetry by Julian Tuwim, Edward Stachura, Jacek Kaczmarski, Stanisław Staszewski, Grzegorz Ciechowski and… Jacek Bończyk.
The form is modest: only a pianist and a bass player accompany the singing and guitar-playing artist. But the content is rich, closed in masterpieces of the world’s tiniest theatre, once sung by divas, bards and saints of rock and roll. These are powerful, exuberant songs – but also sad and reflective, and their common denominator is the salty-bitter taste of life, of male maturity, counted, more or less, from one’s fortieth birthday.
