DJ Siwy plays after the concert
The anniversary of one of Poland’s oldest improvising bands, or Polish jazz at the song festival
Antoni Gralak – trumpet, Adam Stodolski – double bass, Tomasz Leś – guitar, Przemek Borowiecki – drums
Producers: Michał Litwiniec, Filip Surowiak
This time the 3 young and angry members of 100nka are accompanied by the even younger and angrier 1 and only Antoni Gralak (just kidding, Ziut is a walking sweetness), the legendary trumpeter, creator, leader, nowadays also a writer-autobiographer, possessor of an inimitable tone, phrasing and musical imagination, for many a master and for some, because of his loose tongue, a bit of a madman.
Released last year, album No. 1 (it’s actually album No. 5 in the band’s discography) was recorded at the iconic Obuh Studio in Rogalów, equipped exclusively with vintage analogue equipment.
Enjoying warm-sounding, ear-pleasing, psychedelic and melancholic free jazz may be important to a listener at home, but it is equally important in concert. Both in the recording studio and on stage, the quartet is concerned with the same thing: achieving that level of understanding among themselves and communicating with the audience where nothing needs to be tweaked, pasted or shifted.
