Kuba is a forty-year-old intellectually disabled man. He has no access to the world of our (“our’?) affairs and truths. We have no access to the world of his (“his”?) experience and imagination. Kuba’s involvement in “normal” life is not only a reference to great literature (after all, every age has its Myshkins); it is also – or rather, first and foremost – a powerful metaphor.
– Today, we need a sense of community, including spiritual and ideological community. The migration crisis, increasingly populist and nationalist attitudes, and publicly demonstrated xenophobic behaviour, widely commented on in the media, undoubtedly echo in the consciousness of some Europeans, say the artists. – The need to counter these trends by promoting a sense of community, tolerance of diversity and equal opportunities for individuals and societies is an obvious challenge for all.
The eponymous “stu_las” is a safe space filled with music. It is an independent protagonist of the story – the result of a clash between the hermetic universe of Kuba and the pop-cultural world created by the show’s creators.
