Sur means sound in Hindi. Tarang means wave. Surtarang. A wave of sound.
Hanka Łubieńska – vocals, Eryk Nowacki – sitar, saz, Łukasz Jasiak – tabla, darbuka, sampler, production
Producers: Michał Litwiniec, Filip Surowiak
The band takes inspiration from the music of the East, especially Indian – the artists play original oriental instruments (sitar, tabla, saz and darbuka). Equally important as the “above” is the “below” – powerful, deafening electronica that draws on everything that the big city crowds of the West have fun with (EDM, trance, dub, the list of styles and genres is long). Mantric, women’s vocals complete the whole thing.
The material from the album ‘Yatra’ (‘Journey’) is an audio-visual concept: costumes and makeup emphasize the character of the compositions. The visual image connects with the sound. Band’s message is clear: music is not only an acoustic experience but also an emotional and spiritual one.
