“A Disappointing Incident” is an autobiographical, intimate story about a woman trying to make sense of the experience of anxiety. It is a performance about the tension between control and loss, between awareness and the physiological survival response.

Through shame, anger, and irony, the creators search for new paths, tools, and perspectives on a life constantly illuminated by the headlights of oncoming cars.

In the emergency room, a rapper livestreaming during a panic attack “fucks his spleen, liver, and heart”. As children, “we run barefoot through fields, press our cheeks against the grass, and listen to the world waking up”. In moments like these, the most disappointing components of fear can give way to hope, relief, and freedom.
